WEB SITE

We have completed the comps for your new site. The arduous part is done, coming up with some initial directions to get your feedback on.

There are two versions each with their own personality. Following are design and production notes relating to each direction.

Comp 1

This version plays heavily off the slogan, "where ideas become reality." It features a deep undertone of lines and movement, with a semi-transparent white layer over it to accent the copy blocks. The navigation is tucked to the right of the logo and is a continuation of the company's name space. The "Services" button is highlighted to show you how a rollover looks. The large anchor element on the home page is a wire frame rendered human overlaid on a light bulb - again, playing off the name. The second incarnation shows what the animation would look like for this - basically, the filament and mind glow off and on. What is not shown is how we can fly in the logo and the slogan separately from off plane. This would use some fancy dhtml programming so it doesn't require Flash or interfere with load times. After all, the message we're developing is key to this site, not the technowhiz design elements that only suck bandwidth - a big problem with many of the sites out there today.

Comp 2

This one is more in the spirit of some of the samples you sent. It uses a predominantly yellow palette in various tints with black and gray accents as well as some red and deep purple highlights to expand the colorfulness of the page. The navigation is tucked in a dual colored band under the logo and slogan. The main body has a fine yellow pinstripe underneath. The art is much more impressionistic but still plays off the idea theme - just less obvious. The "Home" button in the navigation is highlighted to show how a rollover works. Again, animation is not apparent in this comp, but we can fly in different elements to add flow and impact.

The good news is the work goes much much faster from here on out. Your task is the following:

1. Do you like one or the other, a combination of the two or neither.

2. If neither, what would jazz you more on a design. Different colors? Different art? Different look? More sophisticated? More approachable? More avant garde? Etc.

3. Navigation. Is every thing there? Are we missing anything in the structure of the site?

4. Is the logo color correct. We used the metrics provided, but want to make sure it hasn't shifted since other colors play off of it. We did modify it slightly to keep the font as large as possible in a reduced size.

5. Other input as desired...

Bear in mind that we may get close the first time or we may have to do it again. The key is creating something that represents your company and you're proud to show off... :)

Well, enough chit-chat.
