![]() New Day Recycling PROJECT: Web Site We have completed two different looks for your site. Before we unveil them, we want to go over some of the thoughts and concepts that helped drive design. Colors: In both designs we used a palette which played off your logo as well as represented the environment. Some of these colors were pulled directly from a palette we use which determines complementary tones, others are pulled from the imagery contained in the comp, such as hues from the logo itself, photos and illustrations. It creates a very rich look. Content: Obviously, the content isn't final. Rather it is intended to show general placement of content and some ideas for what direction the home page can go. We used the global crisis of e-waste that's been in the news a lot lately and then localized the issue. All the copy as well as photos can be changed... so don't think too much about them. It's just easier to work with some content in design to define the look of a page. We don think they're pretty strong, however. Navigation: The navigation scheme is the same as in the proposal. If there are additions or changes this is the time to let us know. Design Space: Both comps will be able to scale to expand with the browser window. Comp 1 can do this a little more elegantly than Comp 2 from a design standpoint. But we always try to build sites so they can accommodate whatever settings the visitor is using. I think that covers the basics. Following is the actual descriptions concerning each version. What we need from you at this point is to look them over, print them out, live with them a bit and then provide feedback. Which one do you like? What would you change? Did we miss anything in the navigation? Etc. From there we will modify concepts, present a final and then build out a working version. COMP 1 This version really says what you're all about. Down the left side are photos of discarded computers, peripherals and televisions. The copy appears on the right, wrapped around a stylized recycling logo. The predominant colors are earth tones - blues, greens and accents of browns and maroons. The navigation appears under a gradated sky which is behind the logo. A sample of a button when rolled over can be seen in the Services button. It is a very vibrant, energetic design. COMP 2 The second design is more ying and yang in nature. A beautiful Kitsap sunset appears behind the logo while a complementary toned illustration counters it with a pollution scene. It definitely gets the point across, though it is not as direct in message and Comp 1. In this version the buttons appear down the left side. The copy block is set off with a "recessed" white block. A sample of the navigation appears on the About Us link on the navigation. Well, enough chit-chat. Click the links below to access the comps and be sure to print them out. Some color adjustments still need to be made to the site but it's pretty darned close. ____________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ |
